How We Help

PROBLEM
- In Mozambique, about 1.2 million children do not attend school, more girls than boys, particularly in the secondary age group
- In Malawi, only 41% of students complete their primary education on time
TAKING ACTION!
With all this in mind, Education has been a top priority for Sow Mission. A total of 6 schoolS were built and structured in the country of Mozambique and Malawi, 3 of them being primary schools and 3 as kindergartens. Sow Mission caters to 1800 children daily and also assists students that have left our schools but still need some assistance during High school.

SERVICES OFFERED

THE PIERECK CLINIC
Before the arrival of the clinic, located in Chigumula Village, people had to walk up to 6.2 miles to get access to basic health care. The clinic was built with the purpose to serve our students but now it is helping 6 surrounding communities.
The clinic opened in 2016 because of a need noticed by the founder: more than 80 orphans in our school were carriers of the HIV virus. The parents had already died from the disease and they were not receiving any health care. Since then the clinic has been a place of safety for many that can’t afford to go to bigger hospitals.

In honor of Claudio Piereck, a loving friend, father and husband. Who always fought for a better life for our African Children.

TAKING ACTION!
Sow Mission is battling malnutrition within our communities by providing meals for our students! All 1800 children in our schools are fed daily with nourishing food! Special assistance is offered to specific families in critical conditions such as orphans or the elderly, where Sow Mission assists the family with food and milk for babies.

PROBLEM
- In Malawi, malnutrition remains a serious challenge and contributes to preventable child deaths. 37% of children in Malawi are affected by stunting (being too short for one’s age) while only 8% of children aged 6-23 months meet the minimum acceptable diet. Stunted children are more likely to drop out of school and repeatedly experience lower productivity later in life. In Mozambique extremely high levels of chronic malnutrition (43%) affect almost one in every two children under the age of 5. As well as contributing to infant deaths and poor child health, chronic malnutrition has a detrimental impact on school performance, household income, and perpetuates the inter-generational cycle of deprivation.
- In Malawi, only 41% of students complete their primary education on time

HOUSING PROJECT
Due to an increase in death rates caused by the HIV virus, many children were left orphaned and at the care of their grandmothers and many women are left widowed. This led to many families having to live in extreme poverty in order to survive. Sow Mission builds houses for people within this
category, either orphaned or widowed.
TAKING ACTION!
Sow Mission has built 30 houses in
Malawi and Mozambique. These
houses are small but safe and it
costs $2500.00 dollars to build a
house.

WATER FOR ALL
Sow Mission started the project of
opening wells and water pumps in
2013 because :
- water from rivers have many bacteria, viruses and parasites resulting in waterborne diseases
- Women walked 5-10km to access water
- Only half of Mozambique’s population has access to clean water
- 4 million people still have no access to clean drinking water in Malawi
TAKING ACTION!
So far 10 water wells have been drilled in Caia, Murassa, Gumbane, Chimoio (Mozambique), Chigumula, Palombe and Subuleta Village (Malawi).

EVANGELICAL MISSIONARY CHURCH
Sow Mission was founded in 1998 by Pastor Roberto Santos and Missionary Célia Santos. God gifted them the desire to change communities with The Gospel, including living conditions. They had no idea how or even where they would go. In 1998
they opened their first church – Evangelical Missionary Church! And now it has 120 branches, spread across Mozambique and Malawi.

LEADERSHIP TRAINING
The Leadership Training course serves to empower our local leaders to grow in the wisdom of the Bible and also teaches them skills on how to share God’s Word! We provide Bible study material for each leader, as well as food during the course. Last year’s course brought together 400 of our local leaders. This event takes place in different locations so that all our leaders have the opportunity to participate.
EAGLE VISION EMC BIBLE SCHOOL
Eagle Vision is a Bible college that offers a Certificate in Theology to many students. The course lasts 6 months, with an additional month reserved for outreach, where students can put into practice what they have learned. We have trained 362 Theologians throughout its existence.
